Telemedicine usage before March 2020 was already a useful resource for common medical concerns, but in these unprecedented times of COVID-19, it is an even better option. People who need help with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationships, and substance abuse, for example, may already be reluctant to leave the safety of their homes or may worry about putting others at risk. Isolation, enhanced by the pandemic, has escalated the symptoms experienced by people suffering from mental and emotional health concerns.

What is Telemedicine? | BCB Therapy

What is Telemedicine?

The world is a different place than it was six months ago. People have genuine concerns about contracting COVID-19, and the risk increases, the more you step outside your own four walls. Telemedicine allows you to connect with a therapist from the comfort of your home via technology. Many people who hadn't previously heard of Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime are now users of the technology, making telemedicine much more comfortable and accessible.

Telemedicine visits for counseling can be much more convenient since no traveling is involved, and they may more easily fit into a workday. Some individuals may not be able to get out due to risk factors for COVID-19 or other health concerns. All of our therapists are available for online visits using a secure, encrypted Internet connection. You will receive an individualized treatment plan after your initial consultation, and your subsequent visits will build on this plan.

Who Can Use Telemedicine?

Your Information is Secure with Telemedicine

Telemedicine visits are HIPAA-compliant, and they are subject to the same government regulations as an in-person visit. Your health information will not be compromised. There are some platforms that can't be used for teletherapy or telemedicine visits because they are public-facing and therefore pose security concerns, so we do not utilize those platforms.
